Eurocon 2006 will be held at the Great Eccleston Village Centre in Lancashire, not far from Blackpool. The venue has two floors, with kitchen and bathroom facilities. It also has full disabled access throughout. The venue is non-smoking but it has an easy-access garden. The venue is right in the middle of the village, and is very close to two pubs, a general shop/newsagent and a fish & chip shop.Google maps link.
Residential attendees will be staying at the Premier Travel Inn at Billsborrow. Across the road from the accommodation, there is a restaurant and bar complex open until late.
Getting there:
If you are driving, the venue is easily accessible from the M6 and M55 motorways. Free parking is available outside the venue. If you are arriving by train, we can provide pickups (if booked in advance) from Kirkham & Wesham railway station , which is on the Blackpool line where trains run regularly from Preston (on the West Coast main line), Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester airport.
If you are flying in, we recommend you fly to Manchester airport which has a direct train service to Kirkham & Wesham. Jet2 and Air Berlin offer low cost flights from a large number of European destinations. It is also possible to fly to Liverpool (served by Easyjet and Ryanair), although by public transport it is rather a long journey to the venue (2+ hrs).
You can buy train tickets from National Rail. If you book in advance, the ticket price will be cheaper.
